Abstract

The purpose of this study is to assess the extent to which multicultural education has been implemented in citizenship education at elementary schools, to identify challenges and obstacles faced by teachers and students in the implementation of multicultural education, and to find effective solutions to address these issues. The research methodology used in this study is qualitative descriptive research with a literature review method that examines the implementation of multicultural education in Citizenship Education at elementary schools. Based on the conducted research, the results indicate that the implementation of multicultural education in citizenship education at elementary schools is exemplified by good role models from teachers regarding mutual respect among students without discriminating against one another, as well as the development of multicultural values in Indonesia which has received significant attention in recent years, especially in the subject of Citizenship Education that can enhance students' understanding of diversity values, empathy skills, and social abilities. Teacher training in facing cultural diversity is essential to ensure that they can effectively implement the curriculum designed for multicultural education, as well as the creation of a learning environment that supports diversity.
