Abstract

This research aims to identify the existence of learning obstacles or Learning Obstacles in fraction calculation operation material in class V students at SDN 1 Gardu Harapan Musi Banyuasin. This research uses descriptive qualitative methods and data collection techniques in the form of observation, tests, interviews, and documentation. Based on the results of the analysis of observation data, tests, interviews, and documentation, there were 78% of the 22 students through calculating the percentage who experienced learning obstacles ( Learning Obstacle). Among these obstacles, first, the ontogenic obstacle factor identified is that students do not like learning mathematics, lack understanding and mastery of mixed fraction material, and lack mental readiness of students, which causes them to be slow in thinking and there are students who cannot read because the students' cognitive level is low. Low. Second, the epistemological obstacle factor was identified from errors in working on and understanding the fraction problems given. Starting from errors in the concepts of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of numbers. There are also errors in the steps for working on fraction problems. Third, the didactical obstacle factor was identified from the use of ineffective methods, such as mostly using the lecture method, the use of learning media which was very limited and lacked dance, the material in textbooks was incomplete and caused students to be confused and find it difficult to understand the material being studied.
