DAMPAK STATUS SOSIAL EKONOMI MASYARAKAT TERHADAP DISKRIMINASI SOSIAL DI DESA KELEBUH PRAYA TENGAH

This study aims to determine the impact of socioeconomic status on social discrimination in Kelebuh Praya Tengah Village. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. The types of data in this study are primary and secondary data with data sources in the form of subjects and informants. The subjects and informants were determined using purposive sampling techniques. The data collection techniques in this study included interviews, observation, and documentation. The data analysis technique in this study used the qualitative data analysis with the following steps: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion/verification. The results of the study show that (1) People with an elementary school to college education experience discrimination in the form of being treated differently in deliberative forums and in the form of mocking actions and words, which has a negative impact in the form of feelings of sadness, shame, hurt, low self-esteem, feelings of failure, or not being appreciated for their achievements and abilities. (2) People who have jobs experience discrimination in the form of being treated differently in public forums, such as being ridiculed because of their job status and being treated differently during traditional ceremonies. (3) Low-income communities experience discrimination in the form of being treated differently in public forums, such as in village meetings, religious activities, and village events. This has a negative impact on the subjects in the form of loss of self-confidence, inferiority, shame, stress, social isolation, and economic decline.
