PENGARUH MODEL PEMBELAJARAN KOOPERATIF TIPE MAKE A MATCH TERHADAP HASIL BELAJAR SEJARAH SISWA KELAS XI SMA NEGERI 5 PEKANBARU

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low academic achievement of 11th-grade students in history. A contributing factor to this issue is the lack of student engagement in the learning process at school. The purpose of this study is to determine the extent to which the “Make a Match” cooperative learning model influences student achievement in history. This is a quantitative study employing a nonequivalent control group design. This study was conducted at SMA Negeri 5 Pekanbaru using purposive sampling, with class XI 6 as the experimental class and class XI 12 as the control class. The results showed that before the “Make a Match” cooperative learning model was implemented, the average student achievement was 75.4, and after implementation, the average student achievement was 88.7. The t-test result was 0.002 < 0.05, and the N-Gain test result was 0.560, falling into the moderate category. These findings indicate that the “Make a Match” cooperative learning model has a positive effect on improving student learning outcomes, particularly in history.
