Abstract

This study examines the Prophetic educational styles found in parenting hadiths from the Six Major Hadith Collections as a methodological response to the parenting crisis in the digital age. Using a qualitative approach based on library research with the thematic hadith (mawdhūʿī) method, this study identifies five main styles: al-tadarruj, qudwah ḥasanah, al-mulāṭafah, al-nahy bi al-ḥikmah, and al-duʿāʾ wa al-tawakkul. Each approach was analyzed through a study of the asbāb al-wurūd and classical commentaries (Fatḥ al-Bārī, al-Minhāj, ʿAwn al-Maʿbūd, Tuḥfat al-Aḥwadzī, and Jāmiʿ al-ʿUlūm wa al-Ḥikam), and then contextualized using contemporary developmental psychology theories (Vygotsky, Bandura, Bowlby, Deci & Ryan). The research findings indicate that these five approaches form an integrated pedagogical system: al-tadarruj corresponds to the principle of gradual scaffolding, qudwah ḥasanah with social learning theory, al-mulāṭafah with attachment theory, al-nahy bi al-ḥikmah with self-determination theory, and al-duʿāʾ wa al-tawakkul with a spiritual dimension that transcends the framework of conventional psychology. This study concludes that the Prophetic style is not only historically relevant but also offers concrete, holistic, and transcendental methodological solutions to the challenges of parenting in the digital age challenges that no single Western theory can fully address.
