Learning basic dance movements for elementary school students requires instructional media that support students in understanding movements gradually and in accordance with their learning characteristics. However, dance instruction in dance academies is still predominantly centered on instructor demonstrations, making it difficult for students to understand, remember, and independently practice dance movements. This study aimed to analyze the need for interactive video media in teaching basic dance movements to elementary school students at Sanggar Gita Laras. The study employed a quantitative descriptive approach. The participants consisted of 13 elementary school students selected using a total sampling technique. Data were collected through a three-point Likert-scale questionnaire covering three aspects: learning conditions, student characteristics, and the need for interactive video media. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive quantitative analysis with percentages. The findings indicate that students require learning media capable of presenting dance movements clearly, systematically, and repeatedly according to their learning needs, while also supporting independent learning. Overall, the need for interactive video media in teaching basic dance movements was found to be high. Therefore, interactive video media have the potential to be developed as supportive instructional media that accommodate students' learning needs in basic dance instruction at Sanggar Gita Laras and provide an empirical basis for subsequent research on instructional media development.
