PENGEMBANGAN MEDIA PEMBELAJARAN EKO-LADDER (ECOLOGY LADDER GAME) UNTUK MENINGKATKAN PEMAHAMAN KONSEP EKOSISTEM SISWA KELAS VII

Abstract

This research was motivated by the low understanding of ecosystem concepts among seventh-grade students at MTs DDI Al-Kautsar, Kerasian Island, due to limited interactive learning media and the school's inadequate electricity and technology facilities. Therefore, the Eko-Ladder (Ecology Ladder Game) learning media was developed as a physical educational game to help improve students' understanding of ecosystem concepts. This study aimed to determine the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of the Eko-Ladder media. This study used the Research and Development (R&D) method with the 4D development model (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate). The subjects were 23 seventh-grade students at MTs DDI Al-Kautsar, Kerasian Island. Data collection techniques included interviews, expert validation sheets, teacher and student response questionnaires, and pretests and posttests. Data were analyzed using qualitative and quantitative descriptive analysis. The results showed that the Eko-Ladder media achieved an average validity level of 79.33%, categorized as valid. The practicality level involving three practitioners (science teachers) obtained a percentage of 86.33% with a very practical category, while student responses obtained a percentage of 81.79% with a very practical category. The effectiveness of the media is shown by the increase in learning outcomes, namely student learning completeness increased from 0% in the pretest to 100% in the post-test, with the highest value increasing from 50 to 100 and the lowest value from 30 to 80. Thus, the Eko-Ladder (Ecology Ladder Game) learning media is declared very valid, very practical, and very effective, so it is suitable for use as a science learning media on ecosystem material for grade VII MTs students.students.
