Abstract

ABSTRACT

Mathematics learning in Class III B of SDN 3 Cempaka Banjarbaru faces challenges in the form of low critical thinking, representation, mathematical communication, and collaboration skills among students due to teacher-centered learning approaches. To address this issue, this study implements the MATEMATRILOKA, which is this is a combination of Problem Based Learning (PBL), Discovery Learning, and Talking Stick, with the aim of describing student and teacher activities as well as improving these four skills. This study uses a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design with qualitative and quantitative approaches, conducted over four meetings involving 29 students. Data were collected through observation and tests, then analyzed descriptively using classical percentage.

The results show that teacher activity increased from 80.56% to 100.00%, while student activity improved from 6.90% to 86.21%. Students’ critical thinking skills increased from 6.90% to 89.66%, representation skills from 20.69% to 93.10%, mathematical communication from 10.34% to 89.66%, and collaboration from 17.24% to 89.66%. Student learning outcomes also improved, with cognitive aspects reaching 93.10%, affective 89.66%, and psychomotor 93.10%. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the MATEMATRILOKA Model is effective in improving student activity, skills, and mathematics learning outcomes.
