Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of soft skills on the work readiness of students in the Office Administration Education Study Program at Universitas Negeri Surabaya. Work readiness is an essential competency that students need to possess in order to adapt to and compete in the labor market. Therefore, strong soft skills are expected to enhance students' work readiness. This study employed a survey research design using a quantitative approach. The population consisted of 187 students from the 2022 cohort of the Office Administration Education Study Program, with a sample of 126 students selected through proportional random sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed using simple linear regression analysis. The results indicate that soft skills have a positive and significant effect on students' work readiness, as evidenced by a t-value of 10.849 and a significance level of 0.000 (< 0.05). Furthermore, the coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.487 indicates that soft skills explain 48.7% of the variance in students' work readiness, while the remaining 51.3% is influenced by other factors outside the scope of this study. These findings suggest that the better the students' soft skills, the higher their level of work readiness in facing the demands of the workplace. Therefore, the development of soft skills should become a priority for both students and higher education institutions as an effort to improve the quality of graduates who are well prepared to enter the workforce.
