PENERAPAN TEKNIK INTERPRETASI DALAM PEMBELAJARAN VOKAL SOLO UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KUALITAS BERNYANYI SISWA NEGERI 2 BATANGAN

Abstract

This study aims to describe the application of interpretation techniques in solo vocal lessons and to determine how these techniques can improve the singing quality of students at SMP Negeri 2 Batangan. This research was motivated by the low quality of students' singing, as evidenced by inaccurate intonation, unclear pronunciation of lyrics, and poor appreciation and expression when performing songs. This condition indicates that students do not yet understand the song's meaning deeply and are unable to convey its message effectively. Therefore, the application of interpretation techniques in solo vocal lessons is necessary to improve students' singing, both in terms of technique and expression. This study used a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The subjects consisted of Arts and Culture teachers and students participating in solo vocal lessons at SMP Negeri 2 Batangan. Data collection techniques were conducted through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data validity was achieved through source triangulation and technical triangulation. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the application of interpretation techniques involves several stages: understanding the meaning of song lyrics, practicing basic vocal techniques, experiencing the emotions and mood of the song, and practicing communicative singing expression. The application of interpretation techniques has a positive impact on students' singing quality, as demonstrated by improved pitch accuracy, articulation clarity, breath control, and the ability to accurately express songs. Furthermore, students also demonstrated increased confidence during performances. The research findings suggest that the application of interpretation techniques in solo vocal lessons can improve students' overall singing quality, both in terms of technique and expression. Therefore, interpretation techniques must be consistently applied in vocal lessons to achieve optimal results.
