PERAN GURU DALAM MENANAMKAN KARAKTER TANGGUNG JAWAB MELALUI KEGIATAN HARIAN SISWA KELAS II SD NEGERI ULU BENTENG 2

Abstract

This study was motivated by the importance of character education in developing students' responsibility through daily school activities. The study aimed to describe the teacher's role in instilling the character of responsibility through the daily activities of second-grade students at SD Negeri Ulu Benteng 2 and to identify the inhibiting factors encountered during the implementation. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. The research subjects consisted of the principal, the second-grade teacher, and second-grade students. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was ensured through triangulation and persistent observation. The findings revealed that teachers played a significant role in fostering students' responsibility by providing guidance, direction, motivation, supervision, habituation, exemplary behavior, reinforcement, and appreciation. The cultivation of responsibility was integrated into daily activities, including praying before and after learning, performing classroom cleaning duties, maintaining school cleanliness, completing and submitting assignments on time, and complying with school regulations. Several factors inhibited the implementation, including students' young age, differences in individual characteristics and abilities, limited parental support, dependence on peers, and limited instructional time for character education. Therefore, consistent habituation supported by collaboration between schools and families is essential for strengthening students' responsibility from an early age.
