PENGEMBANGAN MEDIA PEMBELAJARAN SMART BOX BERBASIS QR CODE MENINGKATKAN KOMUNIKASI SISWA PADA MATA PELAJARAN IPAS KELAS IV DI SDN PANGABUAN CILEGON

Abstract

This research stems from the fact that the communication skills of 4th-grade students remain low during Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) lessons at SDN Pangabuan Cilegon. Initial observations revealed that students tended to be passive during discussions, only a few were willing to ask or answer questions, and many struggled to express their understanding of the Solar System unit. This study aims to develop a QR Code-based "Smart Box" learning media that meets the criteria of validity, practicality, and effectiveness in fostering the enhancement of students' communication skills. The methodology follows a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model encompassing the Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation stages trialed with 32 fourth grade students. Data collection procedures were conducted through field observations, in-depth interviews, evaluations by media and material experts, teacher and student response questionnaires, as well as pre-test and post-test results. The gathered data were subsequently processed using descriptive quantitative analysis alongside N-Gain score calculations. The results showed that the media expert gave a validation score of 100%, while the material expert rated it at 88%, both falling into the highly valid category. The practicality level reached 94.3% based on teacher feedback and 89% from student feedback, both categorized as highly practical. The effectiveness of the media was evidenced by an average N-Gain of 79.48% in the high category, with all 32 students achieving a high N-Gain score. These findings indicate that the QR Code-based Smart Box can be utilized as an innovative learning medium in IPAS to promote student engagement and communication skills.
