PENERAPAN MODEL PROBLEM BASED LEARNING UNTUK MENINGKATKAN HASIL BELAJAR IPAS KELAS IV SDN I TADOY

Abstract

This study aims to improve the IPAS (Natural and Social Sciences) learning outcomes of fourth-grade students at SDN 1 Tadoy through the application of the Problem Based Learning model. This model was applied to address students’ low learning outcomes through student-centered learning that involves students in identifying problems, discussing, conducting investigations, working together in groups, and presenting the results of problem solving. The subjects of this study were 20 fourth-grade students. This study was based on students’ low learning outcomes caused by learning that was still teacher-centered and had not actively involved students, making them tend to be passive. This study used Classroom Action Research (CAR) carried out in two cycles, with the stages of planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation and learning outcome tests. Observation was used to observe teacher and student activities during the learning process, while the test aimed to determine the improvement of student learning outcomes at the end of each cycle. The results showed that the application of the Problem Based Learning model significantly improved student learning outcomes. In Cycle I, the students’ learning outcome score only reached 67.25%; after improvement in Cycle II, the students’ learning outcome score increased to 88.75%. These results indicate that the application of the Problem Based Learning model can effectively and optimally improve the IPAS learning outcomes of fourth-grade students at SDN 1 Tadoy.
