Abstract

Language error is the use of language both orally and in writing that deviates fromthe factors or rules of good and correct grammar in accordance with the rules ofRefined Spelling (EYD). This study aims to describe language errors in the writing of narrative texts of grade V students of SDN 36 Cakranegara. The research approach used was descriptive qualitative approach. This research focuses on written language errors in word choice/diction, capitalization, and comma usage. The research subjects consisted of 14 fifth grade students of SDN 36 Cakranegara. Data collection techniques were carried out by observation, interviews, and documentation of narrative texts by students. Data analysis techniques used qualitative data analysis of the Miles and Huberman model. Data validity test was conducted using triangulation technique and dependability test. The results showed that written language errors in word choice or diction amounted to 78 errors with a percentage of 33.47%. Then errors in the use of capital letters amounted to 98 errors with a percentage of 42.06%. Finally, errors in the use of period and comma punctuation marks amounted to 57 errors with a percentage of 24.46%. Keywords: analysis, language errors, narrative text
