Abstract

Based on the results of pre-research carried out at MAN 1 West Lampung, biology learning activities need updating and students' critical thinking skills are still low.. This study aims to determine the effect of the cooperative script learning model assisted by mind mapping on students' critical thinking skills in the subject matter of the human reproductive system. This research method is a quantitative research using Quasy Experimental Design. The design used is the Pretest Posttest Control Group Design. Data collection techniques in this study consisted of tests, field notes, and documentation. The population in this study were all students of class XI IPA MAN 1 West Lampung. The sampling technique in this study used a class random technique. This study used 2 classes, one class as the experimental class (XI IPA2) and the other class as the control class (XI IPA3). Based on the results of data analysis, it was obtained that the value of n gain in the experimental class at the pretest was 44.44 and the posttest was 80.00. While in the control class, the value of n pretest gain was 18.75 and n posttest gain was 56.25. The independent t test for critical thinking skills showed that Sig. (2-tailed) of 0.000 <α (0.05), then H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. So that this study can be concluded that there is an effect of using the cooperative script learning model assisted by mind mapping on the critical thinking skills of class XI students in biology subjects.
